GROWTH:
Hyacinths grow to be between 6-12 inches tall and 3-6 inches wide.

CARE:
Hyacinths prefer full to partial sun, getting at least 4 hours of sunlight a day. They grow best in soil that is loose and loamy with excellent drainage so that moisture doesn't rot the bulb. Plant your hyacinths pointy end down, at least 4 inches below the surface and 3 inches apart. Once planted, water thoroughly but then only again if there is a lack of rainfall. To fertilize, use bulb food when the leaves start to show.

FUN FACT:
Each color hyacinth has a unique fragrance. They are commonly used in perfume making.

How to plant & care for Bulbs

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has devised a system to provide gardeners with a basic guide to plant hardiness – how much winter cold a plant can withstand. The Hardiness Zone Map system divides the United States and Canada into numbered zones based on lowest average winter temperature. Even within a zone, different micro-climates exist, such as large urban areas which may be warmer or land situated at different elevations.
